Why this site exists
This site started with a simple shopping question: "what does AI video generation actually cost?" The answers Google returned were confidently wrong. Popular comparison sites listed Luma Dream Machine at $23.99/mo when the official price was $30. Several "best AI tools" lists still recommended subscribing to ChatGPT for Sora — months after OpenAI discontinued consumer video access entirely. One tool had pivoted into a completely different product; its old pricing was still being quoted everywhere.
The problem isn't that comparison sites lie. It's that AI pricing changes monthly and almost nobody goes back to re-verify. So we built the site we wanted to use: every price checked against the vendor's official page, stamped with a verification date, and corrected when vendors change their minds — which they constantly do.
What makes this site different
- Verified prices, dated. 23 of 46 tools verified directly against official pricing pages; the rest cross-checked against 3+ independent sources and labeled as such.
- Real unit costs. Subscription prices are marketing — we compute what one image, one second of video, or one hour of voiceover actually costs from published credit rates.
- Sourced quality signals. G2, Capterra, and Trustpilot scores with review counts and links — never our own invented ratings.
- Pricing Watch. A public log of price changes, product pivots, and stale-data alerts — the stuff that makes other comparison content quietly wrong.
- The fine print, surfaced. Credit expiry rules, per-seat surcharges, intro prices that revert, licensing tiers mapped to use case — every tool page has a "watch out" section.
Who runs this
PriceMyAI is independently operated from the United States by a builder who pays for these tools out of pocket and got tired of being misled by stale listicles. No vendor owns a stake in this site, and no vendor can pay to change a number on it.
How we make money
Some outbound links are affiliate links — vendors pay a commission if you subscribe, at no extra cost to you. Two hard rules: affiliate status never changes a displayed price, and rankings are computed purely from data. Tools that pay us nothing are listed identically to tools that do.
